++ Shore Leave for the Harbour – China Time 2006 ++
A ship full of sea containers floats mysteriously over the oceans. North, south, east, west. What’s inside? And where in the world does it come from?
A Pavilion of Sea Containers
Kontrapunkt took 40 sea containers off a ship from the Far East and placed them in the heart of Hamburg - with a marvellous view of the Alster. A spectacular 750 m² - the CHINA TIME Pavilion - arose. In order to communicate the close relationship between the Elbe metropolis to the economy and culture of China, we designed a Room of Encounters in which the impressive diversity of the People's Republic was festively presented.

The containers had been painted artistically with motifs from the "Mahjong" exhibition and stood as visible symbols of the connection to China. This was duly noted - and it was not only the visitors to the CHINA TIME 2006 that liked it: The FAMAB jury awarded a silver EVA-Award to this effective event conception. With its “CHINA TIME” series of events, Hamburg offers a programme that is unique nation-wide.
